More About Annie's Orphans

Annie's Orphans could not function without the dedication of these special friends:

Bill, Cassie and puppies

Here's master silversmith Bill introducing Irish Wolfhound Cassie to several wolf-hybrid puppies. Cassie found her way to Annie's because a neighbor was threatening to poison her. She's now in a wonderful new home.

Chuck Hawman and family

Chuck Hawman provides the lion's share of our veterinary services. He is pictured here with wife Vicky, son Cody, and yes, their 1997 adoptee, McKenna.

Jason Hayner in dog room

Susan (hiding) and Jason Hayner are friends, supporters and adoptive parents. They also spend a lot of time here in the dog room, babysitting so we can get other things done.

Micheal and Jesse

Michael with wolf-hybrid Jesse. While not presently with the rescue, Michael is responsible for many of our landscaping and kennel improvements. He also devoted a tremendous amount of time to exercising and playing with the dogs.

Kirsten and Jabeaux

Kirsten (with Jabeaux, the Lion King) helps with cleaning, exercise and the personal attention the dogs need so much. 5 year-old Jabeaux is a sweetheart and needs a good home. He has a real "arctic dog" personality though, and goes wandering immediately if given the chance.

Diego and Margaret

Diego came to us from life on a 3-foot chain and daily attacks by neighbors' dogs. He's since been adopted, due in part to Margaret's help in training and socialization. Margaret is a professional trainer, runs Wildhaven Boarding Kennel and does some rescue on her own. Despite all this, she still finds time to volunteer regularly.

Special Residents

Maggie

Maggie was rescued from a ritual killer when she was two days old. In the three years since she's risen to leader of the pack.

Weelah, Honey Bear and Rikitu

13 year-olds Weelah, Honey Bear and Rikitu share retired life.

Shannon

Shannon, rescued from being completely alone for days at a time.

Duffy

Duffy arrived at 5 weeks old and decided to stay.

Sadie

Annie's Orphans is the third (and final) rescue home for Sadie. Many thanks to the previous two who did the hard part of saving her from near starvation.

The Rescue

25' by 25' runs Anna's Orphans currently occupies 5 acres and has the potential to expand to 15. Many of our residents live in individual 25' by 25' runs. (By the way, this 1 year-old heeler cross is very sweet and looking for a new family.) Our two-dog runs are 25 by 50 feet. Smaller "hospital runs" are located right behind the house for ease of
Hospital Runs treatment. We also have two exercise yards totaling 1.5 acres of running room.
Exercise yards Although we cannot take in any new dogs at this time, we have many available for adoption to quality homes. For availability and requirements please e-mail Anna at: blackfeather@frontier.net
